Double Cleanse & Cleansing Devices

     DOUBLE CLEANSING

Every great skin care regime begins with one or two great cleansers. Cleansers help to remove dirt, excess oil, makeup, sunscreen, and anything else that has been on your face all day.  Here is why adding a double cleanse into your routine might just be the most amazing thing ever and can be a game changer in your results.

First off, cleansing is not rocket science. It definitely does not need to be complicated. Basically you wash your face once, and then wash it again. Here is what I recommend.

  • You can use any one cleanser twice if you like things real simple.
  • I recommend double cleansing in the evening at the end of the day and doing just a single cleanse in the morning.
  • For 2 cleansers, I recommend starting with an oil based or creamy cleanser as what I like to call a pre-cleanse. This is like sweeping before you mop.
  • For your 2nd cleanse, you can use a more foamy or gel type cleanser to give yourself a nice deep cleanse. Your skin will be more clean and able to receive your amazing serums and moisturizers better.

Adding in a simple extra cleanse will help your other products work better, your skin will be more clarified and radiant. Here are a few Eminence Organic cleansers to help guide you to the right cleanser.  There are a few different factors that go into choosing the right cleansers, from texture to smell, to the concerns you have for your skin.

First Cleanse - Start with any one of these. May be used twice or followed with another cleanser of your choice.

Stone Crop Oil Cleanser - Amazing for all skin types including sensitive, for removing the day, eye makeup, lipstick, and any stubborn makeup or sunscreen. Suitable for oily skin too because it reduces excess oil without leaving you high and dry. It leaves the skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Bright Skin Cleanser - For all skin types, especially drier, sun damaged skin. This creamy and brightening cleanser has a natural hydroquinone alternative: a natural brightening agent made with African potato and tara tree. This hydrates and helps improve uneven skin tones, sun spots, and even acne scars.

Coconut Cream Cleanser - Take a vacation while you soothe and hydrate your skin with this dreamy creamy cleanser. For all skin types especially dry or dehydrated.

Lemon Cleanser - Refreshing, balancing, and creamy, this will immediately lift your spirits, brighten and soothe your complexion. For all skin types.

Second Cleanse - Follow your first cleanse with any of these and your double cleanse is complete.

Stone Crop Gel Wash -  For all skin types. This is one of those hydrating foaming cleansers that literally anyone and everyone can use. This is a great balancing cleanser that is good for even the most sensitive skin and is even safe to use on babies. This cleanser is great for random breakouts and uneven skin tones.
Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser - Fight breakouts, control oil, and reduce scars and irritation with this cooling and gentle gel cleanser.  For oily to combination and breakout prone skin types. Deep cleanses without stripping the skin.

Mangosteen Resurfacing Cleanser - For all skin types. This milky foam cleanser will help to refine pores, brighten the complexion, and smooth and prep your skin for serums and creams. This if perfect for dull, dehydrated, congested skin. Lactic Acid helps to gently resurface the skin without irritation.

Cleansing Devices

Do we need them and what to look for.

Here is my tea on cleansing devices. They can be helpful and useful but not necessarily a make or break in having clear, healthy skin. I love to use them in the treatment room with a double cleanse to get you extra clean and to prep your skin for the next steps. They can give your skin a boost, improve circulation, have some anti-aging benefits and are fun to use at home. I don't think they are absolutely necessary. I also don't think you need to spend too much money on one. There are lots of different kinds out there and here is what I like to look for when choosing one.

  • Silicone head - silicone does not hold onto bacteria and is easy to clean. It provides a nice gentle massage and extra cleansing for the pores.
  • Vibration or oscillating  (No spinning brushes) - The extra movement helps add facial massage benefits, increases circulation, and also aids in gentle pore cleansing.
  • Easy to use and travel with.
  • Lasting charge. The Foreo brand has a really long lasting charge. I charge it twice a year
  • Read lots of reviews!
  • Bonus if there is no need to replace the head - Less money you have to spend on it.

One of the best cleansing devices I have found is the Passion FlowerBrush by You Hebe.

Lasting Charge. Small and adorable which makes it easy to travel with. Super gentle massage and super affordable! Made with Food Grade Silicon, Passion Flower both eco and skin friendly. It's 3 times cheaper than any other cleanser on the market. In addition, Passion Flower uses unique Magnetic beads to massage and rejuvenate.  Use code SARA10 at checkout to get 10% off your purchase! Visit Youhebe.com to buy and learn more.

Another one of my favorite cleansing devices I recommend is the Foreo.

They have many different sizes and prices to choose from. The charge lasts forever, I never have to replace a brush head. I have used mine for over 4 years now. Using a cleansing device once a day is usually enough. You can over cleanse if you use a device twice a day and that can dry out and irritate the skin. I love trying and playing with new devices but you can still have great skin as long as you use the right skin care products for you and get facials regularly.
